Introducing the AVID Maverick R "Baja" Front Suspension System
Another breakthrough has arrived. AVID has always been known for pushing the boundaries of what's possible, but this time we've taken it to a whole new level . After 18 months of design, testing, and fine-tuning, we've created a complete, no-compromise package. A system designed to handle anything you throw at it.
Initially, we considered modifying the factory steering knuckle, but after countless hours, it became clear that it simply didn't make sense . The OEM design is based on outdated and failure-prone solutions, carried over from the Can-Am X3. In a vehicle capable of driving at the pace of a trophy truck, this is clearly insufficient. The factory geometry may look good in marketing photos, but it has nothing to do with racing .
The stock setup offers 0° KPI, 0 scrub radius, and virtually no camber gain . Sure, it provides easy cornering and stability on straight sections through washboards, but what about the rest of the track? Minimal camber means no correction at high speeds. The lack of scrub radius and camber gain causes the tires to "pitch" in corners, losing traction and control. This is a compromise we refuse .
What we changed and why

KPI (King Pin Inclination) : adjusted to 10° (standard 0°). Provides faster steering response, better tire contact with the road, and controlled camber increase throughout the suspension's operating range.

Scrub Radius : increased to +1" . Provides the correct pressure angle at the tire's contact point, maximizing traction in corners. Geometry set for a 0 offset rim and 35" tires.

Caster : Set to 7° (standard 2.5°). A larger caster provides better straight-line stability, natural steering return, and predictability at high speeds and landings.

Camber Gain : Designed for 0.5° from full extension to ride height and a whopping 3.5° at full compression . Provides stability in G-outs, grips the front end in corners, and significantly increases traction.

Ackermann & Bump Steer : Precisely controlled – less than 1/4” bump steer on 35” tires.

Massive steering knuckles : CNC milled from 7075-T6 aluminum, with 1” vertical uniballs in true double shear for maximum strength and reliability.

Frame and tie rod pivot points : all replaced with uniballs or 7/8” joints , eliminating weak points under racing loads.

Construction : TIG-welded chromoly rocker arms bonded to billet 7075-T6 components for maximum durability.

Hardware : a set of proprietary AVID titanium bolts – lightweight, corrosion-resistant and proven in motorsport.
What does this mean in practice?

High-speed stability – the steering naturally maintains the vehicle's line without constant correction. The standard system relies on electronic simulation of "feel," while some companies mask the problem with a steering damper. Here, a real solution is implemented, not half-measures.

Significantly sharper steering response – the vehicle becomes direct and precise. It's like the difference between a truck and a sports car.

Elimination of understeer – the phenomenon of front-end "pushing" in corners has been eliminated. Significantly greater traction on sand and loose surfaces, and a more predictable front end.

Improved turning radius – tight turns and maneuvering are back. After correcting the geometry, everything is working as it should.
