UTV After a Hard Ride? Check These 5 Things After Every Ride!

Off-road fun is one thing, but caring for your equipment is key to long, trouble-free operation. Especially after a tough ride in mud, sand, or over rocks, your UTV deserves a quick checkup. Here are 5 key things you should check after every trip, even a short one:

  1. CVT Belt and Clutch: This is the heart of the drivetrain in most UTVs. Remove the cover and inspect the belt. Look for abrasions, cracks, or signs of slippage. Clean the clutch of dust and mud. Small cracks in the belt may indicate it's nearing the end of its life.
  2. Suspension and steering components: Inspect the control arms, tie rods, ball joints, and tie rod ends. Look for play, bends, or damage to the rubber boots (especially after contact with rocks). Play in the suspension is asking for trouble.
  3. Brakes: Assess the condition of the pads and discs. Check for brake fluid leaks. Make sure the brakes are not seized by mud or sand. After a mud bath, it's a good idea to spray the calipers with pressurized water.
  4. Tires and rims: Look for cracks or cuts in the tread or sidewall. Check the tire pressure. Inspect the rims for cracks (especially the beadlocks, if you have them) and bends. Embedded rocks can damage the tire or rim.
  5. Fluids: Check the engine oil, coolant, and gearbox and differential oil levels. Fluid levels can drop quickly after heavy driving, and a lack of fluids can lead to breakdowns.

A few minutes spent on this quick checkup could save you thousands of zlotys and a lot of frustration on your next trip!
